To get our weekend rolling, on Friday we stopped at a great fundraising night by the water on Siesta Key for “Leis for Strays,” hosted by Sarasota in Defense of Animals. The benefit included a live auction by Bob Harrigan and Linda McKnight. Our event hosts were Elise Matthes and Sue Waxman of SDA, and Gina Iovine of the Humane Society of Southwest Florida.
And for our after-10 p.m. dinner, we stopped at the Bearded Clam Waterfront Restaurant & Tiki Bar where the dueling keys by “Rocking Pianos” had started — on time! This was without a doubt a fantastic and energetic time for everyone there. You can catch them every Friday and Saturday night at the Bearded Clam from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., located inside the Ramada Waterfront Sarasota just north of the airport. But be ready to dance, sing along or just continuously smile!
On Saturday we headed to Michael’s on East for Planned Parenthood’s Safe Sex Halloween Bash 2012.
We couldn’t miss the costume contest with a $1,000 grand prize at dowtown Sarasota’s Floribbean Restaurant & Lounge. “Know your market” came into mind when thinking of the savvy winner. Though there were plenty of runner-ups for first place, the prize went to “El Chapulin Colorado,” the crowd’s favorite!
